Uncle Toms Closes (for now) After Almost a Century of Trade
After nearly 90 years serving locals and travellers along Mullumbimby Road, Uncle Tom’s Pies has announced it will close for an undefined period while ongoing roadworks continue in the area.
In a public statement, the business said that traffic management changes and detours have significantly reduced customer access and trade, describing the impact on small business as “potentially fatal.”
“Despite our best efforts to adapt, trade has been decimated. We’ve endeavoured to evolve with the changing circumstances but it’s become unsustainable,” the post read.
The team thanked the community for their ongoing support and said they hope to return in some capacity once conditions improve.
Established in the early 1930s, Uncle Tom’s has long been a Northern Rivers institution - a well-loved stop for coffee, pies, and road-trip nostalgia at the gateway to Mullumbimby. @uncletomspies1933 ❤️🙏🏻
